Essential measurements
These are the measurements requested in the Custom Size consultation.
Ask a friend to measure straight across your upper back, from the tip of one shoulder to the tip of the other. Stand naturally and do not hunch.
Fit note: Keep the tape flat, not curved around the neck.
Wear your usual bra and keep your arms relaxed. Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level and parallel to the floor.
Fit note: The tape should touch the body without compressing it.
Measure around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just below the ribcage. Bend gently to one side—the crease that forms is your natural waist.
Fit note: Do not measure where low-rise trousers normally sit.
Stand with your heels together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, usually about 8 inches below the natural waist.
Fit note: Check in a mirror that the tape stays parallel to the floor.
Start at the high shoulder point where your shoulder meets your neck. Run the tape down the front of your body to your preferred finished hem.
Fit note: Tell us whether the length is for a top, dress or jacket.
Begin at the shoulder tip and measure over a softly bent elbow to the point where you want the sleeve to finish.
Fit note: A slightly bent arm allows comfortable movement.
